Integrated Tire Management (ITM)

The following is an example of an ITM that we can create for any customer. The ITM defines all aspects of your Tire Maintenance Program and is used by our technicians when servicing your fleet.

Inflation Requirements

  • Steers - 110 PSI
  • Drives - 110 PSI
  • Trailer - 110 PSI
  • Trailer Bais Ply - 80 PSI

Pull Points for Retreading

  • All 5/32nds

Tire Matching

  • Dual Mating - within 4/32nds
  • Axle Mating - within 4/32nds
  • Dual PSI - within 5 PSI
  • Steering - 4/32nds or greater - rotate

Installation

  • Valve stems 180° apart:
  • Hub pilots torque to 475-ft. lbs.
  • Hub pilot - clean and inspect wheel, pilot pads and nut flanges (add 1-2 drops of oil between flange and nut and to each stud)
  • Dayton - torque to 250 ft. lbs.
  • Dayton - clean and inspect spacer band, wheel wedges and cast spoke wheel
  • Budd (3/4") - torque to 475-ft. lbs.
  • Budd - clean and inspect wheel and fasteners
  • Tighten valve stem/check grommet
  • Flat spots on tires - rotate 180° opposite (only if 4/32nds or more remain on the tire)
  • When installing new steering tires, install in sets, off tire with 6/32 or more as spare, note any irregular on the off tires
  • Install drive tires on entire axle if difference is 4/32 or greater

Repairs

Drive Tires:

  • Tires greater than 7/32nds will be repaired and returned
  • Tires with 6/32nds or less will be repaired and retreaded
  • No sidewall sections - sections S to S area only

Trailer Tires:

  • Tires greater than 6/32nds will be repaired and returned
  • Tires with 5/32nds or less will be repaired and retreaded
  • No sidewall sections - sections S to S area only

Steering Tires:

  • Tires greater than 9/32nds will be repaired and returned with "rear only" marked on the sidewall
  • Tires with 8/32nds or less will be repaired and retreaded
  • No sidewall sections - sections S to S area only
